Meet Jordan

Pronouns: they/she

Hello and welcome!

I’m a white, queer, and non-binary/agender Phoenix-based therapist applying trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practice approaches in my work with clients in Arizona.

I have been intrigued by internal experience my whole life. Whether I was trying to understand animal behavior as a kid, or later in life when I studied political decision-making and philosophy, the subjective experience of everything from relationships to nature to spiritual experience has always been my area of interest.

Over time, I learned that tuning in to patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior can be a superpower, helping us catalyze insights into action that can change our lives.

  • 2017 Master of Arts in Social Work - University of Chicago

2009 Master of Arts in Teaching - University of Chicago

2007 Master of Arts in Religion - University of Chicago

2004 Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science - SUNY at Buffalo

  • Working from developmental, relational, and attachment-based theoretical frameworks, I implement a range of clinical interventions based on client need. While I primarily work from an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, I also have training and experience in play therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Theraplay, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I possess over 30 hours of training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and was previously a founding clinical team member of a fully-adherent DBT program for adolescents. I also have experience providing gender affirming therapy to children, adolescents, and adults and participate in a referral network of medical and clinical providers collaborating to increase access to quality health services for transgender and gender-diverse people.

I possess over 10 years of professional experience with children, adolescents, and their families. Prior to becoming a therapist, I taught kindergarten and 1st grade for six years in Chicago. As an educator, I emphasized developmentally appropriate instruction, inquiry-based experiential learning, content integration, and a collaborative, safe, and positive classroom environment. I have conducted action research on integrating play with Common Core State Standards, supervised student teachers early in their careers, and served in multiple school leadership capacities. Prior to living in Chicago, I served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in South Korea.

  • Outside of my professional life, I’m still a nerd for all things mental health, and love to learn more about our beautiful and mind-blowing internal systems, whether that’s through a podcast on various issues like mind-gut health, boundaries, or boredom. I’m also an avid story-chaser and enjoy reading and bingeing TV shows, losing myself in another world for a while. Weekends usually find me at the archery range practicing olympic recurve shooting, trying out a new recipe, relaxing with my dog Rocky, cycling our great canal paths, or just enjoying much needed unstructured, down-time.
